Individuals who find success in selling, be it insurance, sneakers or training solutions – apply themselves diligently to the pursuit of their goals. Superstar salespeople are not born – they are made! They are formed as a result of the daily decisions, conversations & actions salespeople take. Successful salespeople possess common attributes that propel them to greatness; Trait #4: Conscientiousness “Superstar salesman set the bar high and then conscientiously apply themselves to do what needs to be done to cross the finish line” - Mucha Mlingo Conscientiousness is defined as “the state of being thorough, careful, or vigilant – having a strong sense of duty”. It includes tendencies to favor self-discipline, carefulness, and thoroughness. Research on sales rep performance published by the American Psychological Association (1993), found that it is the most predictive indicator of sales success! For salespeople, it is “The Killer App”. Conscientious salespeople are always on time, keep their calendars organized, set SMART goals – work towards achieving them, and persist amid setbacks. They meet deadlines. They earn admirable descriptors like "hard-working," "reliable," and "persevering." These salespeople take their jobs very seriously and feel deeply responsible for the results.
